SELECTED PROJECTS       —       CHILDREN`S BOOKS

"Mary the Squirrel (Numbers)" is an educational story that makes

the process of learning numbers easy and fascinating. In this picture book, Mary is looking for a very very big nut in the forest. This book helps kids to learn numbers in three languages and how to count to 10. Moreover it helps to practise counting with fingers and

to explore squirrel eating habits.

While working on the book, I immersed myself in the marvellous

world of childhood. When I was a little girl, I loved to seek small and entertaining details in the books I read. I was absolutely fascinated

by mazes. I was inspired by all these details from my childhood books when I was creating illustrations for this book. In order to keep the plot entertaining and make children understand the counting technique,

I carefully lined the compositions up and highlighted the numbers

with the vibrant colours.

The project was charitable, the first edition of the book

was donated to kindergartens in Ida-Virumaa county in Estonia.

This book is targeted at children from 2 to 7 age. The original language is Russian, but there are also versions in Estonian and English. The book has additional worksheets with exercises that

help practise the acquired knowledge.
